OpenWorkspace for teams and organizations
OpenWorkspace saves and restores supported browser tabs, application windows, files, and their arrangement around a task, project, or objective—for individuals or the broader team.
For the work your team returns to
Client work
Keep the supported documents, browser tabs, and desktop arrangement for a client engagement together as a workspace you can reopen.
Reporting and planning
Return to the spreadsheets, presentations, and research used for recurring reports, reviews, and planning.
Research and education
Organize supported materials and references around a research topic, course, or administrative activity, then reopen the saved setup when you return.

Deployment and rollout
Plan a consistent rollout across your organization
OpenWorkspace deployment includes the desktop client, browser adapters, license activation, and the permissions required by each operating system. These requirements should be evaluated against your organization’s device configurations, browser policies, and endpoint security controls.
Our team can discuss your installation requirements, licensing needs, and device-management environment to help define an appropriate rollout approach.
Free commercial use does not include custom integrations, guaranteed support, or deployment services. Paid Pro includes direct product support during the paid term; no service-level agreement is implied.
Begin with a pilot group representing your applications, browsers, and display configurations. Validate installation, activation, workspace restoration, and update behavior under normal user accounts before extending deployment to additional devices.
Installing on a work computer
OpenWorkspace’s native Windows and macOS applications are digitally signed in accordance with Microsoft’s and Apple’s code-signing standards, allowing your computer to verify their publisher and integrity.
OpenWorkspace installs like other desktop applications. On a work computer, follow your organization’s usual process for installing software. If you or your IT team have questions about installation, contact our technical team (opens in a new tab).
Technical installation requirements
- User setup and browser adapters
- Windows browser integration registers within each user’s profile. Install the adapters for the browsers you use and verify each browser’s connection to the desktop client.
- Network access and updates
- The Windows installer requires internet access, activation connects to the licensing service, and the current updater prompts the user before installation.
- macOS permissions
- macOS requires Accessibility access for window management and screen capture access for workspace previews. These permissions are granted in macOS System Settings.
Employer software policies and IT approval
Your organization may require IT approval to install or use OpenWorkspace, independently of the installer’s technical requirements or your account’s privileges. Check its software and browser-extension policies before installing. IT may also need to review operating-system permissions, proxy and firewall access, updates, and endpoint security controls.
Exchanging workspaces
The .ows file format
A compatible workspace file that people can transfer through their organization’s approved storage and sharing tools.
Available today: local workspace files on Windows
OpenWorkspace already saves workspaces locally, preserving the supported browser tabs, application windows, file references, and arrangement associated with a task.
For organizations, that saved setup provides a foundation for preparing workspaces around a client engagement, a reporting process, or a course—and reusing the arrangement instead of recreating it.
Private by design. Shared on your terms.
OpenWorkspace stores your workspace data locally on your device. The desktop client connects to our servers only to validate your license and to keep your client updated with the latest patches and updates.
Prepared .ows files can be distributed through your organization’s existing infrastructure—including managed network shares, access-controlled shared drives, and approved cloud storage. Your organization controls where those files are stored and who can access them, using the permissions and policies already in place.
Restoring a transferred setup depends on compatible applications, display settings, file locations, and access permissions. The underlying documents and application licenses remain separate.

This is the same OpenWorkspace product and 14-day Pro trial offered to individuals. Free access is available for commercial use. Volume purchases count licenses, and each license can activate Pro on one device; this is a licensing allowance, not a synchronization service.
